Meraih Keutamaan Tanpa Melupakan Kewajiban

Ada beberapa perkara yang sisi lahiriahnya adalah keutamaan, sedangkan sisi ‘batiniah’-nya adalah kewajiban: 

(1) membaca Alquran adalah keutamaan, mengamalkan isinya adalah kewajiban; 

(2) bergaul dengan orang-orang shalih adalah keutamaan, sementara meneladani keshalihan mereka adalah kewajiban; 

(3) ziarah kubur adalah keutamaan, sementara mempersiapkan bekal (dengan memperbanyak amal-amal shalih) sebelum masuk ke alam kubur adalah kewajiban. Demikian menurut Sayidina Utsman bin Affan ra dalam suatu riwayat, sebagaimana dikutip Imam an-Nawawi dalam sebuah kitabnya.

Melalui pesan Utsman di atas setidaknya kita memahami: Pertama, penting membaca Alquran, tetapi lebih penting lagi mengamalkan isinya; penting untuk selalu bergaul dengan orang-orang shalih, namun lebih penting lagi meneladani keshalihan mereka; penting untuk melakukan ziarah kubur, tetapi lebih penting lagi adalah mempersiapkan amal shalih untuk bekal di alam kubur.

Alasannya jelas. Bagaimanapun kewajiban harus lebih didahulukan daripada keutamaan. Sebab, tentu tak ada keutamaan jika yang wajib ditinggalkan, meski yang sunnah dikerjakan. Bagi seorang Muslim, membaca Alquran, misalnya, adalah sunnah dan keutamaan. Namun, jika isi Alquran yang ia baca tak diamalkan, tentu membacanya tidak lagi menjadi keutamaan bagi dirinya; sekadar menjadi ‘hiasan’, tetapi tak mendatangkan manfaat atau keberkahan. Sebab, bukankah Alquran Allah turun agar dijadikan pedoman, bukan sekadar dijadikan bacaan? Allah SWT bahkan telah mencela orang-orang yang mengabaikan isi Alquran (Lihat: QS al-Furqan [25]: 30). Banyak sikap dan perilaku yang oleh para mufassir dikategorikan sebagai tindakan mengabaikan Alquran. Di antaranya adalah tidak mengamalkan serta mematuhi perintah dan larangannya (Ibn Katsir, I/1335); tidak mau berhukum dengannya (Wahbah Zuhaili, IXX/61).

cinta dan keakraban ilahi

Keakraban adalah kebersamaan yang dicapai dengan cinta. Begitu banyaknya kesamaan diri kita dengan Allah sehingga kita akan merasakan begitu dekat dengan-Nya. Diri kita memang tidak bisa dipisahkan dengan-Nya karena kita semua berasal dari-Nya, Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un.

Seperti laut dan gelombangnya, lampu dan cahayanya, api dan panasnya; berbeda tetapi tidak dapat dipisahkan. Allah dan makhluk-Nya, berbeda tetapi tak bisa dipisahkan. Kita tidak bisa mengatakan bahwa laut sama dengan gelombang, lampu sama dengan cahaya, atau api sama dengan bara, demikian pula kita tidak bisa mengatakan bahwa makhluk sama dengan Khaliq.
